Company History |
|
BioZone was founded by Daniel Fisher, President, and Dr. Brian Keller, Executive Vice President. The founders steered the Company in the direction of developing scientific technology for drug delivery systems. In its early years as a contract manufacturer, the Company focused on building its customer base in the cosmetics and dermatology market, gaining credibility and a reputation for quality and reliability in both the scientific community and marketplace as a whole.
In the mid-1990s, BioZone initiated an
aggressive research and development program in conjunction
with the late Dr. Dan Lasic, then the world's leading authority
on liposomes, and its own in-house scientific team led by
Dr. Brian Keller. Medical science had long recognized the
potential of liposome molecules as a vehicle to deliver encapsulated
drugs. BioZone, over a five-year period, discovered a self-forming
lipid later trademarked QuSomes. These were much more efficient
and less costly to synthesize than traditional liposomes,
and also more effective in passively targeting encapsulated
drugs to the specific target sites. BioZone also discovered
how to successfully apply the technology of oral delivery
in an encapsulation technology trademarked HyperSorb and via
transdermal delivery with iontophoresis.
The Company also focused its attention
on proprietary drug formulations and achieved its objective
of developing an analgesic anti-inflammatory compound. In
the late '90s the Company discovered a group of molecules
capable of blocking the enzyme PLA2 that leads to an inflammatory
response and pain via the synthesis of prostaglandin. It named
this product Inflacin. Biozone licenses Inflacin for new drugs. |

Contract Manufacturing |
BioZone's core business, as a branded and private label contract manufacturer, can be separated into two areas, by the type of formulation and method of application:
-
Topical compositions, which resemble traditional creams, lotions, and ointments in appearance and use.
- Liquid compositions that can be absorbed sublingually, nasal spray products, or liquid ingestion products.
Virtually all of BioZone's product line utilizes some aspect of its proprietary technology, resulting in competitive advantages and supporting higher profit margins. BioZone typically wins business on quality and effectiveness of product, excellent customer relations, and prompt fulfillment. The Company is also quick to respond to customer needs. |

Technology Licensing |
The Company's dedication to Research and Development has resulted in its ability to develop and market unique products known for their efficacy. BioZone is embarking on
the path to commercialize its considerable intellectual property in the prescription area, focusing on several drug delivery systems and a prescription version of Inflacin. |
